Is there anything more Southern than a good old-fashioned biscuit? Around these parts, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t consider biscuits a major food category—and for good reason! It seems like almost every restaurant in the area serves their own version of this Texas staple, but who has the best? I’ve searched high and low for the best of the best biscuits, and hope you’ll pay these local favorites a visit.
For over 85 years, Paris Coffee Shop has been a staple in Fort Worth. While they serve up breakfast favorites from pancakes to omelettes and french toast to breakfast tacos, their biscuits & gravy is what really shines. There’s just something nostalgic about a delicious plate of biscuits served with piping hot gravy. It’s rare to find a simple, no-nonsense restaurant in times like these, so locales like Paris Coffee Shop have a special place in my heart…Almost as special as their biscuits!
Overeasy is located in the recently revamped Statler Hotel in downtown Dallas. With local-favorite, Chef Graham Dodds at the helm, Overeasy was sure to be a hit the moment it opened its doors. What I didn’t expect was that the restaurant would serve some of the best biscuits I’ve had. As in, ever. The flaky layers are to be envied, and the house-made preserves, butter and local honey that accompany an order of Overeasy’s Buttermilk Biscuits make them that much sweeter!
The Biscuit Bar is unlike any other restaurant that I’ve been to. It quite literally is all about biscuits here. With french toast, breakfast sandwiches and burgers all utilizing the South’s favorite carb, biscuits, it’s no wonder there is always a line out the door here. You might be curious to know how many combinations are possible to make with a biscuit being the star ingredient, and The Biscuit Bar knows more ways than you could ever imagine. Come hungry and leave oh, so very happy.
If one thing is for sure, it’s that Street’s Fine Chicken is known for, well, great chicken! What may not be quite as well known, however, is just how delicious their freshly-baked biscuits are. Served piping hot out of the oven and dripping in butter, these biscuits are seriously sinful. They’re fantastic no matter what time of day you visit, and are consistently delicious each and every time!
Korner Cafe in Lewisville has been creating fabulous dishes for over six years now. Their equal parts Southern diner and innovative restaurant allow for fun and unique twists on classic favorites. One thing that is a sure favorite here at Korner Cafe is their biscuits and gravy. These biscuits are consistently fresh and accompanied by their rich, smooth and peppery gravy. Get ready for the ultimate comfort food!
