I’ll eat sushi no matter the time of year. There’s just something about having an insanely satisfying meal where nothing served is above room temperature! With that said, I wanted to share some of my top picks for fabulous sushi restaurants around DFW. So, let’s dive in, shall we?
Located at Frisco’s new destination entertainment and shopping center, The Star, Sushi Marquee offers 5,000 square feet of chic and luxurious dining space. From the moment you walk in the door, you’ll feel like a celebrity with the stunning decor and music videos playing on the multiple TVs located throughout the space. The sushi is fresh, the rolls are creative and the plating is some of the best you’ll find in the area. Pull up a seat at the sprawling sushi bar or make your visit extra special by enjoying your meal al fresco on their second story patio that overlooks the complex!
After years of folks in East Dallas hoping and praying for a fantastic sushi spot, Sasa Sushi has delivered! With an unsuspecting storefront on Gaston Avenue, Sasa Sushi provides an intimate, yet casual environment. Choose from a variety of incredibly creative rolls and uncommon selections of fish including Uni Shooters and Hawaiian Amberjack. My favorite? The Coconut Shrimp Roll that is the perfect compliment to summer in Texas and unlike any other sushi roll that I’ve had in town!
Offering sushi, poke and ramen, Ohana in Waxahachie is your one-stop shop for Asian favorites. The staff is always friendly and informative, while the food delivers great flavor at a reasonable price. Each plate at Ohana is executed with such precision and care that it is easy to get spoiled and have high expectations for all sushi restaurants after paying a visit here.
Sushi Sam is the reason that I am a sushi fanatic! Growing up in Southlake, I remember my parents wanting to go here and me ordering the Chicken Teriyaki (which is fabulous, by the way) time and time again because I was too afraid to try sushi. Times have changed, and now I am a sushi lover, but one thing has remained steady: Sushi Sam is one of my favorite spots to grab sushi in the area.
One of my go-to sushi restaurants in the Plano area is Densetsu. The food is so fresh and they do a fantastic job at elevating sushi while still making it approachable. Think you know all about an Ahi Tower? Think again! Densetsu’s is one for the record books with all of the traditional elements arranged in a fun and very Instagram-worthy way.
Blue Ocean Sushi & Asian Grill in Lewisville has the most “loungey” feel of my picks. The interior is dimly lit with blue and purple lighting, and it is done so well, you might just forget that you aren’t at some super hip underground sushi spot in New York! They have some incredible sushi but also serve up other Asian favorites like Pho and Hibachi. Don’t forget to ask about their secret menu for fabulous finds like the Fuji Roll that can’ be missed!
